Jochen Burrichter received his legal education at the Universities of Freiburg and Münster. He became associated with Hengeler Mueller in 1973 and was admitted to practise at the Düsseldorf courts in the same year. He has been a partner of Hengeler Mueller since 1977. Jochen Burrichter is a resident partner in the Düsseldorf and Brussels offices of Hengeler Mueller.
Jochen Burrichter specializes in all areas of European and German competition law with emphasis on merger control. He has been responsible for a large number of merger notifications to the European Commission and the German Federal Cartel Office and has also acted in various Articles 81 and 82 cases.
Mr Burrichter is a member of the Board ("Vorstand") of the Studienvereinigung Kartellrecht e V (German Antitrust Lawyers Association). He is a co-founder and Committee member of the European Competition Lawyers Forum and Chairman of Committee C (Antitrust ad Trade Law) of the Section of Business Law of the International Bar Association. Jochen Burrichter is also a co-author of the German commentary on EC competition law "Immenga/Mestmäcker: EC Competition Law". He has lectured on German and European competition law at various international competition conferences and published several articles on European and German competition law.
